Last quarter, in science I had kids!! I got to name them and got to find out their traits. I learned a lot, and I that project had helped me a lot with understanding everything in the test. We also had to cut them out and flip a coin (penny) to find out the traits.
I learned from it, because I had understood how kids in real life get their traits. I understood hot it works to. I also knew and had a bit more background on how us kids get our traits from our parents.

Who was Charles Darwin? Was he just any type of man that just did nothing for earth? Well, let me tell you he wasn't. Charles Darwin developed a theory of natural selection and evolution. He observed many living and growing things to help him prove his theory. He studied animals from the past, and even their fossils or their other family members.
Darwin also showed us on how he believed animals would look like in the future. Also how they would have more features that helped them. He wanted people to see all of this greatness.

Have you ever heard about the Peppered Moths? Well, you probably haven't because they were from long ago. They were in England and all of the sudden they had changed colors. People wondered why they had changed colors. One of those few persons that cared was Charles Darwin. He had found out why the population of black  moths had over populated England.
As a result he had came up with many ways to find out why the moths population all of the sudden grew. As a result he had came up with an answer. He had concluded something that other people didn't at that time. He noticed that since at that time the country was building many new factories and with all of the smoke and the pollution that made all of the moths attracted to the pollution.

Have you ever lived in a place that has to much population? In other words there the place is overpopulated. As a matter of fact this causes limited resources which then leads you to competition   By competition i mean that you would have to fight for all of your resources. Not necessarily fight, but you will have to find a place to hide and find all of your resources.
I believe competition is used mostly when you're an animal. An animal has to always find food and if there are many types of animals that eat the same thing then they are going to have some trouble. For example lets say that you're a snake in the forest, and if the place is overpopulated with snakes there will be competition.

Punnet squares? Funny name right. Well, you might have already heard of them, but not no exactly what the are. You may have heard of them, but not really played close attention to it. Well don't panic now is the time to figure what they are and what they do. At first I kind of did not get it, but then I started to get the hang of it by just reading the question carefully and taking my time.
Punnet squares are used for science. They are also known of how to tell what is the probability that you will get the same genes as your parents.

Last quarter, or semester in science we had to make a little ornament for our Christmas tree, or for our own jewelry. You had to make one for yourself, and then if you wanted earrings, then you would make two. That was only if you had enough time to do two though. As for me I only made one because I didn't have enough time to make another one.
There were a couple of steps that you had to follow. You needed a wire, and a special kind of beads that would fit through the wire. You also had to make sure that you matched them up with the correct color beads. For example there were six different types of beads that you need. There were yellow, gold, blue, green, white, and red. You could match them up with any color as long as you sticked with the same pattern.

Through out the whole last semester, I can say that I had much trouble learning some new vocabulary words, and about learning about all the different cell parts. I pretty much tried so hard, but I just couldn't get the hang of what was going on and all of the vocabulary just didn't make sense! After paying attention each day I grew more and more confused on what to do. Each time I would go to science new things would come in new that I didn't know.
After Mrs.Poole had announced that we were having a test, I knew I had to do something about it. She had also mentioned that the test would be a great part of our grade. So, the day before the test I had studied and I did good.

Mitosis is where everything takes place. In other words, its a place where DNA copies itself, so that it can get ready to make two cells that are identical or exactly alike. The first and the most very important thing in order for the cell to copy is the DNA. The DNA is very important, because that where the cell get its genes, and other important parts. Without the copy of the DNA the cell would not be the same, and have something different or the cell might not even get to make a copy of another cell.
All of this all happens in side the nucleolus.

After reading the article Mr. Kimbley gave us to read I have reflected on what the author claims about the article, and the evidence that he gives during the article. The article was called Physics of Santa. He had stated that Santa wasn't real. He also claimed his evidence why he believe his such thing. He had said that if Santa was a real person, that he would be dead by now. He also said he has a theory, and some kind of evidence that says that he could possibly be right.
He has stayed that Santa would be dead by now because of all the deliveries he has to do with all of the kids. The author has stated that Santa works over 31 hours per day until Christmas. This is why he believes that if a man would do this a few weeks before Christmas, that a man like this would be dead by now. But, I personally disagree with the author. I disagree, because I know that if Santa is very powerful, and he can use his magic to help him stay alive forever! But, the author also says that Santa carries tons of weight on his back, and carry's to many. The author believes that this can cause death, because if you carry to much weight, then you could possibly end up dead. We may have different opinions, but at the end we all know that Santa can put the author on the naughty list for years, and keep him there so that every Christmas he will be forever alone with his 69 cats.

DNA

In science, we have been learning about DNA, and the founders of the DNA. It was quite interesting. We had to also right an essay on the founders of DNA, and give them a little background. The most important founder that found the DNA was Roslind Franklin. Without her, none of the other scientist would have found the right X-Rays in order to revel the DNA.
She was so focused, and loved her job. In the DNA there are nine parts to them. They are the double helix, base pairs, deoxyribose sugar, phosphate group, adenine, cytosine, thymine, guanine, and nucleotides. All of these play a great role in the DNA.
